Map Ready Privacy Policy

Map Ready is an offline field mapping app from the Crew Ready family. This Privacy Policy explains what information Map Ready accesses, stores, uses, and shares when you use the app.

Short version: Map Ready is designed to keep your maps, tracks, pins, measurements, and folders on your device unless you choose to export, share, back up, or send information outside the app. We do not sell your personal information.

1. Developer and Contact Information

Map Ready is operated under the Crew Ready brand. For privacy questions, support, or data requests, contact us at support@getcrewready.ca.

2. Information Map Ready Accesses or Stores

Depending on how you use the app, Map Ready may access or store the following information on your device:

Location information: GPS latitude, longitude, altitude, bearing, speed, course, horizontal accuracy, vertical accuracy, and related location details used for locating you on a map, recording tracks, navigation tools, and field measurements.
Background location: If you start GPS tracking and allow background location permission, Map Ready may continue using location while the app is closed or not visible so it can record your active track.
Map files: Georeferenced PDF maps and related map metadata that you import into the app.
Field records: Tracks, pins, measurement lines, measurement areas, folders, collections, feature names, notes, and style settings you create.
Export and backup files: Files you create or restore, such as GPX, KML, CSV, GeoJSON, or Map Ready backup files.
App settings: Preferences such as theme, units, coordinate format, map view settings, GPS settings, and library organization.
Technical information: Local app state needed to load maps, keep collections working, improve app stability, and remember your settings.

3. How We Use Information

Map Ready uses this information to provide app features, including to:

show your current position on georeferenced PDF maps
record, pause, resume, save, rename, and export GPS tracks
create and edit pins, measurements, folders, and collections
switch between overview and detail maps in a collection
display GPS accuracy, speed, bearing, distance, and related field information
restore local backups and keep your offline map library organized
diagnose app issues and maintain reliable performance

4. Local Storage and Offline Use

Map Ready is designed for offline use. Maps, tracks, pins, measurements, collections, settings, and backups are primarily stored locally on your device. If you delete the app or app data from your device, locally stored information may be removed unless you previously exported or backed it up.

5. Sharing and Exports

Map Ready does not sell your personal information. Map Ready does not automatically publish your maps, tracks, or field records.

You may choose to share information outside the app by exporting files, backing up data, sending files to another app, uploading files to cloud storage, emailing files, or otherwise using Android sharing features. When you do that, the information is handled by the app or service you choose to share it with.

6. Third-Party Services

Map Ready may use operating system services and standard Android features such as location services, file pickers, document storage, notifications, and sharing. If optional cloud, payment, analytics, crash reporting, or account features are added in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated before those features are used.

7. Permissions

Map Ready may request permissions such as location, background location, notifications, and file access depending on the feature you use.

Location permission is used to show your position, record tracks, and support navigation and measurement features.
Background location permission is used only when you choose to keep GPS tracking running while the app is not visible.
File access is used so you can import PDF maps, restore backups, and export field files.
Notifications may be used to show active tracking status or related app status while tracking is running.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Map Ready keeps local maps, tracks, pins, measurements, folders, collections, settings, and backup information until you delete them in the app, delete exported files from your device, clear app data, or uninstall the app.

If you contact us for support and send files, screenshots, logs, or other information, we keep that support information only as long as reasonably needed to respond, troubleshoot, maintain records, or comply with legal obligations.

9. Security

We design Map Ready to limit unnecessary data sharing and to keep your field data local by default. You are responsible for controlling access to your device, exported files, backups, and any cloud storage or sharing services you choose to use.

10. Children's Privacy

Map Ready is intended for field work and business use. It is not directed to children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Map Ready changes. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a new last updated date.
